Minutes for June 15, 2007:
Attendence: 7
12:00pm: Meeting convened. Lunch and casual discussion.
12:20pm: Special elections. Corey was unanimously selected to fill the remainder of Elaine's president term, and Alex was unanimously elected to replace Corey as social chair for the remainder of his term.
12:30pm: Debated a proposed amendment to the SLC bylaws. Several people raised concerns with the
manner in which the bylaws delineate the different categories of members within the CASA SLC, and a decision
was made to scrap the proposed amendment and re-write it to redefine the membership categories.
12:40pm: Discussed the purchase of a CASA SLC banner to use at outreach events while bylaw amendment
was being rewritten. A blue-on-white design was selected. Cost will likely be around $150 to have a banner professionally made.
12:45pm: Rewritten amendment completed and read. Vote held, and the bylaw amendment was passed by a
vote of 6-0. It will be referred to other SLC's for ratification.
1:00pm: Social activities - discussed possibility of having a barbecue sometime around (but not on) the
Fourth of July, possibly to coincide with a brief meeting, the agenda of which would include discussion of
tornado machine construction, update on the status of the bylaw amendment, and discussion of social and
outreach activities to be attempted at the beginning of the upcoming fall semester.
1:20pm: Discussion of the Tornado Machine: Dr. Shapiro has graciously volunteered to help us build the
tornado machine and provide us with the needed tools. He will most likely be free to help at his house on the
weekend of the 21-22 of July during the afternoon.
1:30pm: Meeting adjourned.
