Minutes for August 28, 2006: Attendence: 8
2:05pm: Meeting convened. Elaine provided an update on the Ethics grant studying CASA--students
involved in the grant will be providing free ethics training, most likely around January of the coming
semester. CASA Students are encouraged to attend. Also, elections for SLC officer positions will be held in
the coming month.
2:10pm: Discussion of budget items. The current SLC budget year ends Aug. 31, so several proposals
were presented to use remaining funds. According to Corey, just under $400 is remaining in the OU SLC fund.
Approved Budget Items:
Laura presented updated tornado machine plans from the design she and Nate had been working on. Estimated
costs for the materials needed range from $180 to $300, with a likely cost of $220. The SLC approved $250
for the construction of the tornado machine. Approved--Yea:8, Nay:0
Elaine suggested that the SLC produce T-shirts, noting that matching t-shirts would help to provide a more
professional image when doing outreach activities. The SLC will research different T-shirt sources and
designs, and a vote will be held by e-mail in the next two days. The SLC approved funding from the remaining
SLC money for budget year 2006 to pay for the production of the t-shirts. Approved--Yea:9,
Nay:0 (includes absentee ballot by Youngsun)
Additional Proposals:
Ashton mentioned the idea of a snack bar; the bar was stocked and left in a public area (in this case, the SPC), and
a box was provided for people to pay for food on the honor system. Some question remains as to the
feasibility of this in a less professional setting (i.e. the public areas of the NWC).
Nate suggested producing CASA stickers, either in the form of bumper stickers or small stickers that could be given
out to children during outreach activities.
3:00pm: Meeting adjourned.
