Minutes for Meeting and End of Semester Party--May 23, 2006:
Attendence: 9 of 13 members

12:00pm: Meeting convened. Lunch commenced.

12:30pm: Had a discussion of the site visit and what the SLC did while we were there. Students who attended the site visit (Jess, Sydney, Corey, and Nate) reported that the site visit provided an excellent opportunity to get to know students from SLC's at other CASA universities through social activities (pool and ice-cream at the student social), as well as the more formal team-building seminar the first evening of the site visit.

12:35pm: Discussion of summer schedule and office location for CASA students in the new National Weather Center (NWC) building. CASA students will be distributed in offices as follows:

• Alex and Corey (Dr. Shapiro's students)
• Nate and Youngsun (Dr. Xue's students)
• Laura (Dr. Chilson's students)
• Ashton, Bob, Derek, and Elaine (Dr. Droegemeier's students)

12:45pm: Brainstorming session for possible SLC-funded outreach and academic possibilities. The following suggestions were put forth:

• Build a tornado machine for use in outreach activites and tours.
• SLC T-shirts.
• Develop a library to store student thesis copies from all CASA universities (either hard copy or online)
• Color printer to be available to CASA students for printing CASA-related materials.
• Obtain radar books to be placed in SoM reading room or library.
• Pencils, pet tornadoes, buttons, or other little CASA trinkets to give to kids at outreach events.
• Provide lunch at additional SLC meetings during the course of the summer.
• Organize a tour of the NWC, possibly including a severe weather safety talk, tornado machine demonstration, and/or chase videos.
